William Joseph Carroll, age 85, son of the late Mary O'Connor Carroll and J. Richard Carroll, passed away on September 29, 2025 at Bridgeport Hospital. He was born in Bridgeport and was a life-long Stratford resident. He attended St. James Catholic School and was a graduate of Stratford High School. He then went on to serve in the US Army. After serving in the military, he owned a tile business, he was a co-owner of Carroll's Sport Shop, which he owned with his father and brother, and then later worked at Home Depot until he retired. He was a member of the VFW Auxiliary #9460 of Stratford, The Catholic War Veterans Post #1362 of Derby, The American Legion Post #0016 of Shelton, and the St. James Knights of Columbus Council #2370.
William is survived by his children, Brian Carroll and his wife Heather and his daughter Colleen Carroll. His siblings Charles A. Carroll, Richard D. and his wife Barbara Carroll, Thomas V. Carroll and John G. Carroll all of Stratford. His grandson Ryan and his wife Cara Carroll and granddaughter Emily Carroll. He was predeceased by his sister, Mary Ann Carroll and his sister in-law Dorothy Carroll. He will also be deeply missed by his nephews, nieces and surviving family and friends.
Friends are invited to greet the family at Cyril F. Mullins Funeral Home, 399 White Plains Rd. Trumbull on Tuesday, October 7th, from 4-7 p.m. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Mark's Church 505 Wigwam Lane, Stratford, on Wednesday, October 8th at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery Stratford with military honors.
