Tuyet Nguyen, age 72, of Bridgeport, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on January 23, 2023.
Tuyet in Vietnamese means snow. A name that was more than fitting for our amazing mother, grandmother, friend, and human being. She was as beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside, like how gracefully snow descends from the clouds. The uniquely individual flakes hold collectively on the surface, a mere reflection of her hidden strength and perseverance. And as these crystals melt to only transcend back into the sky for the next cycle, the same way her unconditional love and compassion is never gone and still felt. Her kind and beautiful soul will always be a part of who we are.
Her early life was spent in Cambodia and Vietnam, later immigrating to the United States through an extraordinary and treacherous journey to seek a better life for her children. She overcame hardship with resilience and selflessness. The sacrifices she made allowed her children the opportunity to thrive and become who they are today.
If Tuyet wasn’t in her garden, growing fruits and vegetables to share with those she cared about, you could often find her in the kitchen cooking and baking. Her passions also included fishing, traveling, and spending time with those she loved.
She is survived by her children: Katie & Xia Lam (son-in-law), Jessica Lam & Tuong Nguyen (son-in-law), and Tai & Colleen Lam (daughter-in-law). Her greatest joy in life was her five granddaughters who she loved immensely. Alyssa, Emily, Madelyn, Phoebe and Scarlett have been incredibly lucky to experience the unconditional love she exudes.
