Silva Merdinoglu

Silva Merdinoglu, age 92, of Fairfield, passed away on December 2, 2023 at CT Health Southport. She was born in Istanbul, Turkey to the late Nazaret and Zanik DerAtamyan.  She retired from Norwalk Hospital after working many years as a cashier in the cafeteria.  She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and baking, especially making rice pudding and baklava for her family and friends.  She was very involved in her church and sang in the church choir for many years.  Family was very important to Silva and, she loved spending time with them.  Silva was a very loving and kind person who always took time to pray for others. She will be greatly missed by those who loved her.  She was predeceased by her husband Garbis and her brother-in-law Dr. Murat Merdinolu. She is survived by her son Jack and his wife Robin of Fairfield; a brother Markar and his wife Sarlot DerAtamyan; her sister-in-law Carol Merdinolu; her grandson, Todd Daigle and his fiancée Becca Shokite; a great-granddaughter, Caitlyn Daigle; several nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to attend her funeral services on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at the Armenian Church of the Holy Ascension, 1460 Huntington Turnpike Trumbull CT 06611.  Interment will be private. Friends are invited to pay their respects to the family on Wednesday at the church from 4-7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Armenian Church Choir of the Holy Ascension or Smile Train (www.smiletrain.org) PO Box 96231 Washington DC 20090-6231.
