Sandra M. Nesteriak

Sandra M. Nesteriak passed away unexpectedly on May 11, 2024, at the age of 81. She was born on June 16, 1942 in New Haven, CT.

 Sandy graduated from Shelton High School in 1960, where she was the first female football team manager. She went on to work for Southern New England Telephone Company, as an insurance agent at the Miller Agency and then as an automation analyst for Aetna. She worked for 17 years as the Administrative Assistant to the Mayor of Shelton, CT before retiring.

Sandy was very active in the community serving on the Board of Alderman, on the Shelton Republican Town Committee, was a founder of the Shelton Historical Society, and belonged to the Olde Ripton Garden Club. She co-chaired the committee to write the book, ‘A Pictorial History of Shelton’.

Sandy enjoyed spending time with her family, and with friends at lunches and afternoon tea parties.

She was an avid reader and loved history so much she visited Colonial Williamsburg over fifty times as it was her favorite vacation destination. She loved arranging flowers, playing bridge with her friends and playing solitaire on her computer.  

Sandy was predeceased by her husband, Stephen D. Nesteriak. She is survived by her brother, Paul Fay of Meridian ID, her daughter, Laura Nesteriak of East Providence RI, her son, Stephen E. Nesteriak of Toms River, NJ and her three grandchildren, Christopher Nesteriak, Alyson Nesteriak of Orlando FL, and Nicholas Nesteriak of Seattle, WA.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew Her.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at the Cyril F. Mullins Funeral Home, 399 White Plains Rd. Trumbull, CT. Graveside services will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Lawn Cemetery West, Lane Street Huntington, CT.
