Ruth (Neary) Monachelli Obituary

Ruth Jane (Neary) Monachelli, age 94, of Trumbull, returned home to Our Lord on 7 July 2020. She was born in Bridgeport, CT to the late John Joseph Neary and Irene (Lynch) Neary on 14 March, 1926. She was a devout Catholic and a member of the St. Theresa's Confraternity, Council of Catholic Women, the Mother's Guild at Lauralton Hall and enjoyed events with the Columbiettes at St. Andrew's Parish. Mrs. Monachelli worked for many years in the Trumbull School System Lunch Program. She was also proud of her heritage and was a member of the A.O.H. and the Gaelic American Club.

For nearly 30 years, together and separately, Ruth and Hank devoted many hours at the Dinan Center and volunteered at Bridgeport Manor, and their beloved St. Joseph's Manor, where they happily served the elderly, working with the Carmelite Sisters for the Aged and Infirm. They loved their vacations in the Pocono's particularly at Skytop Lodge. After celebrating 69 years of marriage, Hank went to Heaven on 2, August, 2017. What "Ruthie" cherished most about her life were the many family gatherings, from the time when they were young, until they were in their nineties. Her Catholic faith meant everything to her and she loved to give everyone her blessing.

Mrs. Monachelli was predeceased by her beloved husband Henry (Hank) Michael Monachelli and her cherished granddaughter Kathleen Stevens Cox. She is survived by her devoted daughter BonnieAnn Stevens; her sister Irene Marion Bouvier, her sisters-in-law Lucille Langford, Pamela Monachelli, and Carolyn Monachelli; her loving grandchildren Colleen (Sean) Krelying Stanley Michael (Denise) Stevens, Patrick (Danica) Stevens and Aubrey Muriel Stevens; four cherished great-grandchildren Dakota Elizabeth Cox, Max Anders Kreyling, Stanley Parker Stevens and William Hayden Stevens and her nieces and nephew Michele (Stephen), Jessica (Ben), Karen, Lisa and Jeffrey (Carrie). She was predeceased by her nieces ReneAnn (John) and Lori Ruth (Richie). Friends are invited to attend her funeral services on Monday, 13 July at 11:00 a.m. at St. Theresa Church, 5301 Main St. Trumbull. Entombment in Mountain Grove Cemetery, Bpt., CT. Masks are required. Family and close friends are invited to attend a prayer service on Monday at 9:00 a.m at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Theresa's Church. She is thankful for the wonderful care from her doctors and the ladies and men who assisted her in her later years, Alfreda, Rodica, Maria and the staff at Lord Chamberlain Nursing Home. Her daughter BonnieAnn is grateful for the memories that she and her mother made including those with her father and the many moments since his passing. Her family thanks Fr. Brian Gannon,  Fr. Michael Flynn and Fr. Peter Cipriani for the many blessings they gave her.  Arrangements in care of the Cyril F. Mullins Funeral Home, Trumbull, CT.

Her favorite saying was "May God hold you in the palm of His hand, Jesus show you the way; go with God and stay with God, and I know you will.""
