Robert Evans Obituary

Robert James Evans, age 93, of Bridgeport, CT, passed away September 19, 2024 in his home surrounded by his
loving family. He was born in Bridgeport, CT to the late Sidney and Grace Evans. He was the proprietor of Evans Garage Door
Service. Mr. Evans proudly served our country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a dedicated family man
with a great sense of humor and an inner strength that made him so easy to love and admire. He enjoyed family
gatherings, vacationing with his family at Lake George, and sharing his childhood memories with them. He loved
his walks at Seaside Park, making his famous “Grampa’s Chicken” when the grandkids were growing up, and
playing with his grand-dogs.  Mr. Evans was the family’s handy man, and mechanic, and jack-of-all-trades around
the house. He will be greatly missed. He was predeceased by his beloved wife and childhood sweetheart Elizabeth (Bonitatebus) Evans, his brother Jack
Evans, his sister Doris Gadacy, and his son-in-law Gary Champagne. Survivors include his four children; Robert Evans and his wife Rosa of Shelton, John Evans (his constant companion
and caregiver) and John's partner Jannette Pagan of Bridgeport, Cathy Evans-Champagne of Stratford, and Jean
Evans Davila and her husband Michael of Shelton; six cherished grandchildren Dylan Evans, John Evans and his wife
Jennifer, Steven Evans and his wife Jojette, Lauren Evans and her partner Kristin Ahern, Michael Champagne and
his partner Chris Rendon, and Stephanie Champagne and her fiancé Matthew Bartol. He is survived also by his
sister Jean (Evans) Mann and her husband William, in addition to many nieces and nephews. The family would also like to extend their personal gratitude to the following organizations for their comfort and care given to Robert. The Medical ICU team at Bridgeport Hospital, Constellation Hospice, ComForCare Home Care, Fairfield, CT and the VA Medical Center, West Haven, CT.
