Richard J. Gregory Sr., age 82, of Trumbull, beloved husband of Carol Ann Licke Gregory, passed away peacefully Sunday, December 25th, at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Bronx, NY, he was the eldest son of the late Peter and Angelina (Gnerre) Gregory. After graduating from Edison High School and Westchester Community College, he served in the U.S. Army for six years and was assigned to teach electronics. For almost 30 years, he enjoyed working as an engineer for Norden Systems (United Technologies) in Norwalk before retiring. He always took advantage of every opportunity to attend one of his grandchildren’s sporting events, concerts, or recitals. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, and traveling with his wife and friends. Richard loved animals and most recently enjoyed feeding the birds and squirrels while working in his yard. He was a devoted parishioner and usher at St. Theresa Church.
In addition to his wife, Carol, of 61 years, Richard is survived by three loving children: Christine (Loel) Payne, Carolyn Bacarella, and Richard J. (Lori-Jo) Gregory Jr.; two brothers, Peter (Vivian) and John (Maria) Gregory; one sister Stephanie (Wayne) Stobbe; eight caring grandchildren Zachary, Angela, and Emily Payne, Anthony (Erica), Nicholas (Dana), and Francis Bacarella, Joseph and Grace Gregory; four cherished great-grandchildren Bella, Bree, Lenny, and Vinny Bacarella. He was also predeceased by one brother, Robert Gregory.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 31st, at 9:15 a.m., at the Cyril F. Mullins Funeral Home, 399 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. in St. Theresa Church, 5301 Main St. Trumbull, CT. Interment to follow directly after at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Relatives and friends may call Friday, December 30th, 4:00-7:00 p.m., Cyril F. Mullins Funeral Home. As per the request of the family, masks are preferred.
