Rassie G. Ervin, age 51, of Torrington, CT passed away July 2, 2023. He was born in Bridgeport, CT to Francisca Ervin-Campbell and John Cummings. After completing High School at Kolbe-Cathedral High School, he attended the honor’s program at Lincoln University. He studied Biology at Lincoln University in PA and continued those studies at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield CT. Rassie loved helping people which lead him to a medical orientated field of work. For years, Rassie worked as an Emergency Medical Technician and a 911 Center Dispatcher in CT. While he waited for his kidney transplant, he transported students to school. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, camping, going to plays, barbequing, meeting new people, talking, and spending quality time with his family.
Left to mourn Rassie, his beloved wife Elba Romero Ervin; loving child Jazmeen Ervin (his baby girl), and his loving stepchildren Daniel Nieves (grandson Major), Tearesa Goodson and Devaughn Whatley, a sister, a maternal aunt Andralla Slayton, his mother-in-law Lydia Romero, as well as many cousins. In addition, he will be greatly missed by mother Francisca
Ervin-Campbell and his father John (Susan) Cummings. He was loved by many, as he loved many. He shared a special bond with his cousin Robert Slayton, Iraina Slayton, and Stu Ervin, his Special Dad James T. Herring, brothers/sisters by other mothers – just to name a few Paul Langston Jr, Nichole Langston, and Troy King. Rassie was predeceased by his maternal grandmother Hattie F. Ervin, a first cousin Umar Ervin, Uncle Rassie Ervin, Uncle Robert Slayton Sr., and Godfather Errol Vermont who passed away on July 1,2023.
Friends and family are invited to attend his funeral services on Saturday, July 15, 2023 at 11:30 a.m. at the Cyril F. Mullins Funeral Home, 399 White Plains Rd. Trumbull, CT.
