Phillip E. Guilmette, age 90, of Shelton, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2023 at Lord Chamberlain Nursing Center with his family by his side. He was born in Bridgeport, CT to the late Joseph E. and Elizabeth (Kapostas) Guilmette. He graduated from Warren Harding High School and later earned his B.S. degree from the University of Bridgeport and his MBA from the University of New Haven. He was a finance director with Avco/Textron for 31 years.
He was a proud Army veteran, having served with Company A, 432nd Engineer Battalion in Germany during the Korean Conflict, and he maintained lifelong friendships with his Army brothers.
Phil loved baseball, basketball and bowling, and was actively involved as a coach for various youth sports teams in Shelton. Always ready to lend a hand, Phil shared his time and talents whenever needed.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 61 years, Virginia Dinan Guilmette; three devoted daughters Elizabeth VanGemert and her husband Bradley of Monroe CT, Dr. Karen Morisseau and her husband Dr. Philippe Morisseau of Exeter RI, Barbara Ramieri and her husband John of Georgetown MA; daughter-in-law Anne Guilmette of West Warwick RI; eight cherished grandchildren Matthew, Michael, Elizabeth, Christopher, Jack, Stephen, Joseph, and Paul, one great-grandchild, his niece Denise Doherty Gill, and a large extended family. He was predeceased by his son Phillip J. Guilmette and his sister Barbara Doherty and her husband James Doherty.
Phil’s family is especially grateful to his numerous caregivers, friends and neighbors for their kindness and unwavering support.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects on Sunday, December 17, 2023 from 2-5 p.m. at the Cyril F. Mullins Funeral Home, 399 White Plains Rd. Trumbull, CT.
His funeral services will be held on Monday, December 18, 2023 at 11am at St. Lawrence Church, 505 Shelton Ave. Shelton, CT.
