Paul J. Kurtz

Paul J. Kurtz, age 84, of Trumbull, CT, passed away September 30, 2024 in his home. He was born in Bridgeport, CT, son of the late John and Pauline Kurtz. He was predeceased by his beloved late wife Mary Ann (Boelter) Kurtz. Paul was a lifelong resident of Trumbull, CT and resident for over 45 years of Gilmanton, NH. Paul was a graduate of Bassick High School.  He received his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of New Haven. Paul was employed for many years as an Environmental & Facilities Engineer at Northrop Grumman Norden Systems. He was a Navy Veteran, having served on the USS Ranger. Paul was very active in his community where he was a past Deputy Fire Marshall for the Town of Trumbull and the Town of Easton, CT. He was a member of Trumbull Center Volunteer Fire Co No. 1 Inc. since 1958, where he served as Past Fire Chief, Past President and Past Commissioner.
He was a founding member of the Trumbull Arson & Bomb Squad, Trumbull EMS and Trumbull 911 Committee. He was also a member of many International and National fire service related associations as well as a Honorary Life Member of U.S. Air Force Air Defense Team – Ground Observer.  Paul was the Recipient of several Norden President’s Awards. He was a Board Certified Fire Inspector, Emergency Medical Technician, EMS Instructor, Certified Firefighter, State of CT, Instructor, CT Fire Academy, and an Instructor at New Hampshire Vocational Technical College.
Paul  was an avid snowmobiler and hunter.

He is survived by his devoted sons, Jonathan Kurtz and his wife, Daniela Buri-Kurtz of Trumbull, CT and Daniel Kurtz and his wife, Lisa Kurtz of Pittsburg, NH; four cherished grandchildren Zachary, Nicholas, Braden and Reagan Kurtz, and many relatives and friends including cousin, William Banks. His family thanks Lynn Dubac and Carol Riggs for their extraordinary care and compassion.

Friends and family are invited to attend his funeral services on Sunday at 4 p.m. at the Cyril F. Mullins Funeral Home, 399 White Plains Rd. Trumbull, CT. Friends may pay their respects on Sunday from 1- 4 p.m. Private graveside services will be held on Monday.
