Nassa Sam

Nassa (Chapar) Sam, age 86, of Bridgeport, CT,  passed away August 11, 2021 in her home. She was born in Bridgeport, CT daughter of the late Abraham and Zeke Chapar. She graduated from Central High School and was an employee at AVCO Lycoming before raising her family. She was a longtime member of St. Nicholas Antiochian Orthodox Church, their Ladies' Association and choir. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 57 years, William Sam Sr. They worked side by side for many years in their East Side grocery store and in their Fairfield Pizzeria. She loved to cook, making Syrian and Italian dishes for her family and enjoyed watching the Yankees.

 She is survived by her three devoted and loving children Christine Grasso and her husband Frank, John Sam and his wife Jill and Bill Sam Jr. and his wife Lisa; her cherished grandchildren  Danielle Grasso and her partner Brittany Chitwood, Kristen and her husband Brian Shedlock, Melissa Reis and her husband John, Jessica Sam, Nicholas Sam and his wife Krista, Stephen Sam and his fiancé, Ali Diaz and Jeffrey Sam; one cherished great granddaughter Ella Shedlock; her sister Mary Moran, her cousin Nasra Capar and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband she was predeceased by her brothers Albert and Nicholas Chapar and brother-in-law Steve Moran. The family expresses their gratitude to Nassa's "care angels" Simone and “Z” and to Dr. Pasquale Masone for his care and compassion. 

Church services will be private. Friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Friday, August 13, 2021 at 11:15 a.m. at Mountain Grove Cemetery, North Ave. Bridgeport (follow the Mullins sign to the graveside.)
