Maureen Julian Obituary

Maureen Ann (Guckert) Julian, 79, of Monroe, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born on November 8, 1946, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, Maureen was the beloved daughter of the late Harry Guckert and Joan (Murphy) Guckert. She grew up in Stratford, where the Guckert family was well known throughout Lordship for their strong involvement in the community. Maureen attended Sacred Heart University, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Education before dedicating herself to both her family and the family business, where she worked for more than 40 years.

Maureen was a woman of extraordinary kindness, unwavering faith, and genuine warmth whose presence brought comfort and joy to everyone around her. She had a remarkable gift for making people feel welcomed, loved, and important. Whether through a thoughtful conversation, a warm embrace, or a batch of homemade cookies fresh from the oven, Maureen spread light everywhere she went.

Her greatest joy in life was her family. She cherished every moment spent with her children and grandchildren — hosting holidays, gathering loved ones around the dinner table, enjoying summer afternoons by the pool, baking in the kitchen, or simply spending time together. To know Maureen was to experience a sense of home, love, and magic.

Family and friends will fondly remember the dinners she hosted during the winter and the pool parties she hosted during the summer. An avid baker, Maureen was especially famous for her chocolate chip cookies, which many lovingly claimed were the best around. She also enjoyed reading, spending time with friends, and quietly giving back to others through countless acts of kindness.

A deeply devoted Catholic, Maureen lived her faith every day of her life. She was a longtime parishioner of St. Stephen Church, where she faithfully attended daily Mass, served as a Eucharistic Minister, participated in the women’s group, and served on the financial committee. Her faith guided her through every season of life and was a source of strength and inspiration to all who knew her.

The family is especially grateful to the extended family members, friends, caregivers, and clergy who surrounded Maureen with love, prayers, and support throughout these past difficult months.

In addition to her parents, Maureen was predeceased by her beloved sister, Carol Cardinale; numerous cherished aunts, uncles, cousins; and her beloved dog, Phoenix.

She leaves behind her loving children: Jason Julian (Tammy,) Karen Jimenez (Jose), Andrew Julian (Sara), and Michele Julian-Lessandrini (John). She was the proud and devoted grandmother of Madison, Logan, and Ava, all of whom brought immense joy to her life. She is also survived by her sister, Linda Guckert, along with extended family members, and dear friends whose lives were forever touched by her kindness and love.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Maureen’s life on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at St. Stephen Church, 6948 Main Street, Trumbull, Connecticut. Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. (at the church), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 p.m. Interment will immediately follow at Lawncroft Cemetery, 1740 Black Rock Turnpike, Fairfield, Connecticut.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Maureen’s honor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or online at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (https://fundraising.stjude.org/site/TR/Memorials/Memorials?pg=personal&px=9254863&fr_id=154020). Arrangements are in the care of Cyril F.
