It is with heavy hearts and unimaginable sorrow that we announce the passing of Mason Samuolis Murren who left us far too soon on July 12, 2025. Though only with us for a short time, Mason lived a life of remarkable depth, kindness, and promise.
Mason was a devoted student who took pride in learning. He pursued excellence with a quiet determination that inspired both his peers and teachers alike. Driven by an insatiable curiosity about the world, his academic interests spanned subjects from science to history to the innovative technology of his generation and the future. Mason especially thrived in collaborative settings, where his natural ability to connect ideas and people allowed him to shine. Though marked by humility, his distinctive combination of intelligence and leadership had only just begun to gain recognition through his extracurricular achievements.
Mason gave generously of his time to the community. From volunteering at Christ the King Church, the Trumbull Historical Society, the Trumbull Farmers Market, to starting a project with a local university to help promote cybersecurity awareness and helping collect data on marine life in Norwalk Harbor to monitor the bay’s health – his journey of serving others, exploring, and learning was only just beginning.
Mason cherished his friendships, was intensely loyal, and was always eager to welcome a new person into the friendship circles in which he was blessed to be a part of. Whether it was riding bikes, playing sports, grabbing a bite to eat, gaming, or just hanging out, Mason was always ready to show up for his friends.
His deepest friendship was to his younger brother, Miller. Their relationship evolved through the years, yet their bond was always evident as they connected on finding and exploring shared interests, enjoying the outdoors, making the most of a vacation, and teaming up at times to ensure certain family decisions were actually their decisions.
Mason was loved deeply and survived by his extended family which included numerous incredibly special aunts, uncles, cousins, and a grandfather. His beloved dog Milo also holds a place in his heart for Mason.
Mason was a cherished son and no words can describe the pride we have for him, his mind, his spirit, his humor, his athleticism, his unique way of being. Though we as his surviving parents Patrick Murren and wife Jessica Samuolis are devastated by this sudden loss, we remain grateful for the fifteen beautiful years we were blessed with.
Mason’s memory lives on in every heart he touched, including the organ donation recipients whose lives were significantly impacted.
Friends are invited to attend his funeral services on Friday, July 18, 2025 directly at Christ the King Church, 4700 Madison Ave., Trumbull, CT. Interment will be private. Friends and family may pay their respects on Thursday, July 17, 2025 from 4-7 p.m. at the Cyril F. Mullins Funeral Home, 399 White Plains. Rd Trumbull, CT.
