Martin (Marty) N. Hoffmann, age 63, of Shelton, passed away at home surrounded by loving family, on July 20, 2021. His long battle with ALS was fought with grace, dignity and tremendous courage.
He was born in Menominee, MI, grew up in Stamford and was a long time Shelton resident. He graduated from West Hill High School and received a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from Marquette University in Milwaukee WI. He accomplished many great things things in his career but was most proud of the several patents he was awarded.
He had many interests over the years including skiing and astronomy. He loved riding the various motorcycles he owned over the years, his favorite being his Honda Goldwing. He discovered golf later in life and played as much as he could trying to lower his handicap. He was an amateur wine connoisseur, and enjoyed a good scotch or bourbon. Marty was a good, kind, generous person and will be sorely miss by all who knew and loved him.
Marty is survived by his wife of 32 years Elisabeth (Constantine) Hoffmann; step daughter Shannon Tardy of KS, his brother Michael (Anne) Hoffmann of MA, sister Monica (Jeff) Wlodyka of RI, sisters-in-law Diane Church and Gloria (Tony) DeForge of NC, and Sharon (Paul) Coskery of ME. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Michael and Virginia Hoffmann, his sister Andrea Johnson and brother Cooper Hoffmann.
His family would like to thank his longtime caregiver Henderson Baldwin, and the wonderful people of Masonicare hospice for their care and love. Also want to thank all of the family and friends who have been so helpful, loving and kind over the years. A special thanks to Diane, Gloria, Jacques, Bobbi, and Diana for the last few months of help and support.
