Margaret “Peggy” Broderick Taylor, a lifelong dedicated community servant, beloved wife, and cherished friend, passed away on June 7,2025. She was born on March 12, 1942 to parents John (Jack) Broderick and Margaret Harrigan Broderick. A hometown girl, she was raised in the North End of Bridgeport and attended local schools, graduating from Notre Dame High School, which later became Sacred Heart University. Her mom died when she was ten years old and her father later married Catherine Heavey. Peggy grew up under her loving guidance. Her father Jack was a firefighter and Captain of the firehouse on Beechmont Avenue and, no doubt, instilled in Peggy a deep dedication to community service that she carried throughout her life.
She met her future husband, George F. Taylor, after going to work at Citytrust Bank in Bridgeport. They married in 1966 and settled in Fairfield, CT. A young up and coming banker, George ultimately became the President and CEO of Citytrust and together they formed an unbeatable team, offering mutual support in all their endeavors. Together they were actively involved in their church and numerous charitable organizations, extending their commitment to every worthy cause they encountered. Peggy received a Papal Honor, The Cross Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice bestowed by His Holiness, Pope John Paul II in 1992, Peggy was also chosen to be a Lady of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem in 1999 because of her dedication and commitment to the Catholic Church in the Diocese of Bridgeport, as further evidence of her faithful service to the Church. She and George shared forty years of marriage at the time of George’s death in 2006, their lives enriched by their faithful fur babies, Blackie and Molasses.

Peggy was the quintessential hostess; a wonderful cook, with a natural talent for decorating and design. Her natural design abilities and love for St. Vincent’s Medical Center prompted her to volunteer to run their gift shop for twenty years, along with her good friends Joan Trefz and Judy Faustine. She and Joan would actually go on “road trips” to find special decorative articles for the shop. It became so unique; it was a “go to” spot for anyone looking for a special gift or article for their home.
Peggy is survived by her cousin, Alice Quinlan. She will be remembered and deeply missed by the many friends to whom she generously extended her love and attention her entire life.
