Margaret Elizabeth Presson passed away peacefully on April 27, 2025, surrounded by love and family. Born on November 9, 1934, in Washington, D.C. to Thomas and Annie Hazel, Marge grew up in the Barcroft section of Arlington, Virginia along with her sister, Catherine Anna (Hazel) Hargett. Marge graduated from James Madison University in 1956 and began teaching elementary school in Dunn Loring, Virginia. She was an inspiring teacher and loved every moment of teaching her sixth grade classes.
She was set up on a blind date with Jerry Presson by a fellow teacher in the early spring of 1963 and Marge and Jerry were married six months later in Barcroft Bible Church with a reception at the Barcroft Community Center. In June of 2023, they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
Together, Jerry and Marge had four children, Linda (Thomas) Ricciardelli, Karen (Stephen) Stroud, Thomas (Suzanne) Presson and Susan (Patrick) Queenan; and many grandchildren who made her immeasurably happy and busy, Dylan (Elena West) Stroud, Jared Stroud, William Stroud, Peter Stroud, Andrew Ricciardelli, Clark Ricciardelli, James Ricciardelli, Faith Presson, Margaret Presson, Karli Queenan and John "Jack" Queenan.
Jerry and Marge raised their family in Trumbull, Connecticut where Marge was a mainstay with the Trumbull PTA and Nichols United Methodist Church. She worked tirelessly as an early director of the Mother’s Day Out childcare program at Nichols Methodist and could always be counted on during any of the numerous activities at the church; from cleaning the sanctuary, to being chairwoman of the bridal committee. Marge stayed extremely busy raising four children with cooking, sewing and driving carpools for the kids’ activities taking up most of her time. Marge was an extraordinary logistics operator - planning and coordinating family ski trips, girl scout camping trips, cheerleading and ice hockey carpools and making sure everything ran smoothly and everyone was where they needed to be. She was a gifted seamstress and created one of a kind garments for herself and her children. Once her children were older, Marge spent many hours managing the Bridgeport Hospital Gift Shop. She took great pride in purchasing and displaying the merchandise sold at the gift shop and enjoyed the camaraderie of the other gift shop volunteers. Her countless volunteer hours were acknowledged when she was named one of Connecticut’s Women of the Year in 1999. Jerry and Marge loved to find treasures at local antique shops and wherever their travels took them and they filled their home with their finds. She had a special fondness for collecting depression-era flint goblets and Shelley teacups. She would find promise and potential in just about any item and spent lots of creative time fixing, painting, mending these items to bring them back to life. However, without doubt, Marge’s greatest treasures were her grandchildren. Attending countless soccer games, track meets, dance recitals, school awards ceremonies, hosting Halloween parties, and Christmas celebrations as well as graduations, birthdays and all the little milestones in between, "Ma P" has left her legacy and memories on the hearts of each of her grandchildren.
Marge leaves behind her children, in-laws, and grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband, Jerry, her sister and her parents.
