Louise F. Evans, age 91, of Trumbull, passed away on July 27, 2023 in her home. She was born in Bridgeport to the late Frederick and Frieda Foehrenbach. She attended Shelton Grammar School and Central High School in Bridgeport. She received her Bachelor of Science (BS) in Nursing from the College of Nursing at the University of Bridgeport and a Masters of Science in Nursing Education from Columbia University in New York. She became a registered nurse in 1953. After one year as a staff nurse at Hartford and Bridgeport Hospital, she set up and was in charge of the Marsh B Polio Unit, complete with iron lungs. This was followed by several years teaching in the BS and Associate Degree Nursing (AD) programs at the University of Bridgeport. She became the Director of the AD program until the University closed it down. She was very proud of the 100 students who graduated that year. She was elected to the National League of Nursing accreditation team for ADN programs and flew around the country assessing universities. She finished her nursing career as a Home Care RN. Since retirement she has been the Parish Nurse at her church, Unity Hill United Church of Christ in Trumbull.
Louise is survived by her two sons, Charles and his wife Lisa of Washington, and Robert of Naugatuck; her brother Richard Foehrenbach of Trumbull; four grandchildren, Stephen, Robin, Anna, and Eleanor; and two great-grandchildren, Lukas and Vivienne. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles Philip Evans, and her son, Gregory.
