Louis Jelenik Obituary

Louis “Skip” Jelenik, age 81, of Trumbull, CT, passed away April 10, 2026, in his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Bridgeport, CT, to the late Louis and Georgianna Jelenik. After graduating Bullard-Havens High School, Skip was called to join the United States Navy as a proud patriot, motivated by both his love of country and his desire to travel the world. He honorably served on active duty during the Cuban Missile Crisis and then went on to serve in the Naval Reserves until 1969. His time in the service allowed him to see parts of the world he would often speak about, and he carried great pride in having served his country.

Skip was a dedicated employee of Bodine Corporation for 38 years, where he served as a respected supervisor. During his time there, he earned the admiration of his colleagues through his strong work ethic, reliability, and commitment.

A true family man, Skip was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who always put his family first. He shared 56 loving years of marriage with his beloved wife, Lillian Mayer Jelenik, building a life centered on his family. He was a wonderful provider whose tenacity, wisdom, and hard-working nature gave his family a lasting foundation of stability and support.

Skip lived life fully and without regret, often reflecting on his journey with the words, “Man, my life was great.” He loved sharing the many stories he collected throughout his years, always eager to reminisce. His enduring sense of humor continued to bring smiles and comfort to those around him until the end. He also deeply cherished his beloved dog, Daisy May, whose companionship meant so much to him.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Lillian Mayer Jelenik; four devoted daughters, Tammy Schroeder (Billy DiNapoli), Heidi Kovacs (Chris), Lori Jelenik, and Kristy Jelenik (Marc Donald); three loving siblings, Robert Jelenik (Jean), Gary Jelenik, and Arlene Rubertino (Charles); and nine cherished grandchildren, Hunter, Michael, Morgan, Samantha, Amanda, Frankie, Chance, Riley, and Phinn.

Louis was predeceased by his grandson, Liam Donald.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects on Thursday, April 16, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Cyril F. Mullins Funeral Home, 399 White Plains Rd., Trumbull, CT.
