Lee Ellen Romano, age 85, of Trumbull, beloved wife to A. Joseph Romano, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2024, with her loving family by her side.
Lee was born on March 16, 1939 in Flushing, NY, to the late Thomas and Eileen Flahaven Donnelly formerly of Stratford. She moved to Connecticut at a young age. Lee grew up in a fun-loving home with eight siblings making many cherished memories. She graduated from Central High School in 1957.
Her life was forever changed when she was introduced to Joe by mutual friends at a church-organized social gathering. A year later, in 1959, Lee and Joe were married on Thanksgiving Day. Together, they embarked on a 65-year journey which for Lee was highlighted by raising their five children and taking great joy in doting on their grandchildren.
Lee is remembered as a loving wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was a longtime devoted parishioner of St. Catherine of Siena Church in Trumbull serving as a Catechist, Eucharistic Minister and a RCIA volunteer. Lee worked for many years side-by-side with her husband Joe at AJ Romano Mortgage Company. All who knew her, cherished her enthusiasm for life and her selfless love of faith, family, and friends. Her greatest superpower was her infectious sense of humor and ability to overcome any challenge with a healthy dose of laughter.
Lee is survived by her devoted husband, Joe, and their beloved children and grandchildren, Mary Beth Jordan and her husband, William and children, Peter, Nicholas, and Kevin of Simsbury, Anne Marie Romano of Greenwich, Joseph Romano and his wife, Lori and children John and Ellen of Greenwich, Susan Kearns and her husband, Christopher of West Hartford, and Christopher Romano and his wife, Chrissy and children, Madyson, Brody, Aila, and Dominic of Helena, MT. She is also survived by siblings: Mary Ann Walsh of Stratford, Edward (Jane) Donnelly of Warwick, RI, Theresa Dawes of Milford, John (Kathleen) Donnelly of Middletown and Joseph (Susan) Donnelly of Middlefield, MA, brother-in-law, Anthony Romano of West Palm Beach, FL, numerous nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her sisters, Margaret Weissauer and Susan McPadden, and brother, Thomas Donnelly.
Lee’s family is extremely grateful for the extraordinary care she received from the staff at St. Joseph’s Center in Trumbull. Additionally, the family is deeply appreciative to the Trumbull Senior Center’s transportation staff.
