Katrena Burns

Katrena Louise Connor Burns, age 65, of Trumbull CT, passed away peacefully in her sleep May 29th, 2021. Katrena was born on March 27th, 1956, in Cranston, Rhode Island, to Dr. Hilary Herbert and Gladys Katrena Carlile Connor. She graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder where she met her loving husband, John Valentine Burns, Jr (Jack). They moved east together, married in 1986 and settled in Greenwich before moving to Trumbull. For many years she was Jack’s partner in his restaurant and catering business. Then she worked for Pitney Bowes in sales for over 20 years. She enjoyed tennis, was an enthusiastic golfer, accomplished seamstress and acclaimed baker. Her true passion was gardening. She found great joy and satisfaction tending her vegetable and flower gardens. Katrena had an eye for creating unique and colorful combinations of flowers in her many terrace and garden containers. To everyone who knows her, she will always be remembered for her straightforward honesty, wonderful sense of humor, love of family and tender care of her animals. Survivors include her beloved husband Jack Burns, loving son, John Burns, her brother Hilary Connor (Betsy), Her sister Cindy (Gene Koenig), her mother-in-law, Mary Cassidy Burns, sister-in-laws, Valerie Winebrenner, Bridget (Stafford Bucknall), Kathleen (George Lowther), brother-in-law, Richard Burns (Cricket) and her many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and brother, Kevin Connor. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, June 12th, from 2:00 p.m.-4:30 p.m. at the Trumbull Marriott Shelton, 180 Hawley Lane, Trumbull CT 06611.
