Kathleen P. Volpe, age 67, of Seymour, passed away on March 27, at Yale New Haven Hospital. She was born in Bridgeport to the late Francis and Kathleen (Kehoe) Mayo. During her 35+ year tenure as an educator, she enriched countless young lives, with the majority of those years teaching at St. Augustine School in Bridgeport. After her retirement, she went on to accept a position as a paraprofessional in the Seymour Public Schools where she worked for several years. Most recently, she became a substitute teacher at St. Mary-St. Michael School in Derby. She had a true passion for teaching and education.
She is survived by James Volpe of Newtown; her children, Jessica Volpe of Ansonia, Sara Manrique (Edgar) of Derby, Rebecca Earl (Steven) of Arkansas; her sisters Maureen Cox (Alan) of South Carolina, Patricia Quirk (Michael) of Shelton, a sister in-law Jeanne Mayo of Arizona; her grandchildren, Elijah, Tatiana, Anthony, Shayna, Jayden, Xavion, Kaylee and Elizabeth; a great-granddaughter Delilah; seven nephews; a special cousin Anne, and a host of other family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers Kenneth and Robert Mayo and a nephew Daniel Quirk. Friends are invited to greet the family on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at the Cyril F. Mullins Funeral Home, 399 White Plains Rd. Trumbull. Interment will be private.
