John Ryan Ross

John Ryan Ross, 36, of Trumbull, passed away suddenly on Sunday, October 6, 2024 in his home. John was born in Bridgeport, CT on April 17, 1988, third son to Donald and Arlene (Richter) Ross, and raised in their loving home in Fairfield with siblings Mark, Daniel, and Mary Kate (Ross) Garcia.   A quintessential precocious boy, John would often be found outside with his siblings, neighbors, and countless friends riding bikes, climbing trees, building snow forts, and capitalizing on uncut lawns and driveways buried in snow, never failing to find a way to help someone and have fun in the process.  It was no surprise that he would excel in team sports such as little league baseball, and later on the Varsity Football and Golf teams at Notre Dame Catholic High School in Fairfield, making lasting impressions on those around him with his characteristic wit, charm, and unmatched sense of humor.  John would make further lasting friendships in his college years at Sacred Heart University where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Finance and Economics, Summa Cum Laude, and later on at Fairfield University where he earned a Master of Science Degree in Finance, Cum Laude. 

 While working in many capacities in the food service and financial industries, John met his partner Ashley Garner, who gave birth to their son Landyn Ryan, whom he so loved. Landyn especially enjoyed playing a special trampoline soccer game they made up together. Whether it was a family picnic, holiday parties, taking in a Jets or Yankees game, building a deck or swing-set, undertaking over-ambitious landscaping projects, or supporting his family and friends at all hours of the day or night, regardless of the circumstances or cost to himself, John was there with unwavering compassion, empathy, and a contagious laugh and smile, which will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his son, partner, parents, and siblings, John is survived by his nephews Jared and Andrew Ross, nieces Annabelle Ross, Michaela Ross, and Paloma Garcia, brother-in-law, Miguel Garcia, and sister-in-law, Jillian (LeBlanc) Ross, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was predeceased by his twin sisters Margaret and Katharine Ross, uncle Lawrence Richter, and grandparents Donald and Christine (Laforet) Ross and Edmund and Virginia (Monahan) Richter. 

Funeral services were private and held at the convenience of the family. John was laid to rest at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Trumbull, CT.
