Jerry Presson Obituary

Jerry Mayronne Presson passed away, peacefully on December 1, 2023, surrounded by
love and family. Born on September 26, 1930 in Takoma Park, Maryland to Newman
and Gertrude Presson, Jerry grew up in the Bronx, NY, graduating from The Bronx High
School of Science and then NYU College of Engineering in 1952. Following college,
Jerry enlisted in the United States Army and served in Korea during the Conflict, until
his discharge; attaining the rank of Sergeant in the Army Security Agency.

Jerry was a strong advocate for education and had a lifelong passion for learning. He
pursued a career in Law and Patents, graduating from George Washington Law School,
earning an additional Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from George
Washington University, and using his education to become an Intellectual Property
Attorney.

Jerry did find time while pursuing his degrees to go on a blind date, with Margaret
Hazel. They immediately fell in love and were married six months later. In June of
2023, they celebrated their 60 th wedding anniversary. Together, Jerry and Marge had
four children; Linda (Thomas) Ricciardelli, Karen (Stephen) Stroud, Thomas (Suzanne)
Presson and Susan (Patrick) Queenan and many grandchildren who kept him busy;
Dylan (Elena West) Stroud, Jared Stroud, William Stroud, Peter Stroud, Andrew Ricciardelli, Clark Ricciardelli, James Ricciardelli, Faith Presson, Margaret Presson,
Karli Queenan and John “Jack” Queenan.

Jerry and Marge raised their family in Trumbull, CT due to him working at Hubbell
Incorporated, as Chief Patent Counsel, in Milford, CT. When he wasn’t traveling the
world for work, Jerry could be found outside, whether working endlessly on his
“masterpieces’ which were stone walls and brick walks on his beloved property, training
and completing a marathon, speed skating on Dogwood Pond with his children or taking
his grandchildren on hikes. A natural athlete, Jerry was an accomplished skier, a skill
he taught all his children, a swimmer who enjoyed morning swims in the Cayman
Islands the most, an award-winning dancer, and a regular in the weight room at local
gyms.

Jerry and Marge loved to find treasures at local antique shops and wherever their
travels took them. However, without doubt, Jerry’s greatest treasures were his
grandchildren. Attending countless soccer games, track meets, dance recitals, school
awards ceremonies, chaperoning overseas soccer trips, playing Santa with a big bag of
toys each Christmas, celebrating graduations, birthdays and all the little milestones in
between, “PaP” has left his legacy and memories on the hearts of each of his
grandchildren.

Jerry spent his retirement years in many volunteer capacities at Nichols United
Methodist Church and was President of Nichols Farm Burial Grounds.

Jerry leaves behind his beloved wife, Margaret Elizabeth Presson, his children, in-laws
and grandchildren. He is predeceased by his parents and his sister, Peggy Presson. A
service celebrating Jerry’s life will take place on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, 10:00 a.m.,
Nichols United Methodist Church, Trumbull, with burial immediately following at Nichols
Farm Burial Grounds, Trumbull, CT. The family requests that in lieu of flowers,
donations can be made in honor of Jerry to Nichols United Methodist Church, 35
Shelton Road, Trumbull, CT 06611.
