Jane Ellen (Foehrenbach) Bitzer, age 75, of Shelton, passed away August 13, 2021 at Yale New Haven Hospital with her daughter and son-in-law by her side. She was born in Bridgeport, CT, daughter of the late Frank and Charlotte Foehrenbach.
A happily retired legal secretary, Jane worked for Zeldes, Needle & Cooper and Koskoff, Koskoff & Bieder law firms over her 50-year career. One of her greatest joys was travel; highlights of her adventures include a riverboat cruise through Germany, an Alaskan cruise, as well as many trips to the Caribbean and New Jersey Shore with her friends. She was also a dedicated public library volunteer and avid reader drawn particularly to mysteries and WWII holocaust historical fiction. A social butterfly, Jane very much enjoyed the company of her girlfriends, and would never turn down an invitation to grab a bite to eat or spend quality time together.
Jane is survived by her daughters Deborah Riess (Albert) and Pamela Harrison (Daniel); cherished grandson Parker Riess; loving sister Carole Fanslow; her special Aunt Katie; many cousins; and a circle of dear friends. She was predeceased by her brother-in-law Allen Fanslow.
Friends and family are invited to attend her service on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Unity Hill United Church of Christ, 364 White Plains Rd. Trumbull, CT, with the Rev. Dr. M. Todd Shipley officiating. A luncheon at the church fellowship hall will immediately follow at approximately 12:00 p.m., for all those wishing to remember and celebrate Jane.
