James (Jim) Patrick Cummings, age 85 of Trumbull, passed away on February 2, 2024 with loving family members at his side. Jim was born March 24,1938, the son of Margaret Ahern Cummings and John J. Cummings, and was raised in Stratford, CT.
Jim married his wife of 63 years, Judith (Danielson) Cummings on October 15,1960. Jim and Judi spent their early married years traveling to many European countries as Jim’s career as a Field Engineer with Textron (Avco) Lycoming blossomed. Upon returning from Europe, Jim and Judi settled in Huntington CT and eventually Trumbull CT where they raised three daughters.
A man of strong Christian faith, Jim’s life was marked by an abiding love for Jesus and steadfast trust in his savior. He was known for his extraordinarily kind-hearted character, warm and engaging personality, and welcoming demeanor. He could repair anything and was in his element with tools in his hands and his arms deep in an engine. As strong as his mechanical skills were, his enduring legacy will be the remarkable example he set as a husband, father, and grandfather. He cherished his time with his kids and grandkids, and he channeled his uniquely positive spirit to being their biggest fan and cheerleader.
Survivors include his beloved wife Judith (Danielson) Cummings, his devoted daughters Jennifer Bean and husband Gary Bean, Melissa (Cummings) Pikul, Alison Zajac and husband Joe Zajac, cherished grandchildren Haley Bean Godwin and husband Peter, Timothy Bean and wife Darby, Celidgh Pikul, Gunnar Pikul, Summer Zajac and Lake Zajac.
James was predeceased by his brother, Jack Cummings.
Friends and family are invited to attend his funeral services on Thursday, February 8th at 12:00 Noon at the Cyril F Mullins Funeral Home, 399 White Plains Rd., Trumbull, CT, with the Reverend Peter Smith officiating. Interment to follow at Nichols Village Cemetery. Friends may pay their respects on February 8th from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
