Iwona Gorniak, beloved wife, mother, daughter, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was 57 years old.
Born in Poland to Kazimierz and Henryka Sarncacki, Iwona made her home in Stratford, Connecticut, where she built a life centered around love, warmth, and family. A cherished wife to Wojciech, devoted mother to Claudia, Caroline, and son-in-law Paul, and grandmother to Emma, Iwona’s greatest joy came from caring for those she loved.
Iwona was a fierce cancer fighter and a shining example of grace and resilience. Known for her fabulous sense of style and her incredible cooking, she had a unique ability to make everyone feel welcome in her presence. Her home was always open, her meals always comforting, and her heart endlessly generous. Her warmth and family-oriented spirit touched everyone who knew her.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 26, 2025 from 4-7 p.m. at the Cyril F. Mullins Funeral Home, 399 White Plains Rd., Trumbull, CT and a memorial Mass on Friday, June 27, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Church, 310Pulaski St., Bridgeport, CT. Interment will be private. All who knew Iwona are welcome to attend and celebrate the beautiful life she lived.
Burial will be private.
Iwona’s legacy of strength, kindness, and love will continue to live on in her family and all who were lucky enough to know her.
