Herman Rempfer, of Milford, devoted husband of Ann Rempfer, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2026, surrounded by his family just one day after celebrating his 92nd birthday. Born in Germany on April 1, 1934, to the late George and Marie Rempfer. Herman immigrated to the United States in 1954. He proudly became a U.S. citizen and served honorably in the United States Army. Following his military service, Herman built a successful career as an accomplished automobile mechanic and later as a machine shop engineer. He was a master craftsman with a remarkable ability to troubleshoot, repair or restore anything that came his way. Following his career in mechanics, Herman transitioned his talents to his family business, Langanke’s Florist and Greenhouses.
Herman dedicated much of his life to his family business. He was a talented and beloved floral designer whose creativity brought flowers to life in the most beautiful and meaningful ways. He took great pride in cultivating and stocking the greenhouses with superior quality plants, a testament to his skill and care.
Herman embraced his German heritage. He received an award for the longest continuous member of the Schwaben Club, it was there that he met the love of his life Ann, after asking her for a dance. He was also a longtime member of the Gaelic American Club. Herman found peace in fishing, the beach and spending time with his family and his parrot of over fifty years, George.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Ann Langanke Rempfer, three loving children Mary Ann Connolly and her spouse Erin, Michele Rempfer and Mark Rempfer and his spouse Alexandra, three cherished grandchildren Michael Rempfer, Brian Connolly and Christopher Rempfer, and one cherished great granddaughter Jesse Rose. Herman is also survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Marianne Utesch.
