Helen Karastathis

Helen (Gambroudis) Karastathis, age 95, of Trumbull, passed away May 13, 2025 in her home surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Karastathis was born in NY, NY  to the late Nicholas and Roxane Gambroudis.

 She was a retired secretary/receptionist for her most recent employment with HANAC in Astoria, NY where she retired in 1995. She and her husband Ioannis moved to Greece where they lived for 22 years, but returned to the US for a few months every year and then moved back to the US in 2015 to live with their family.  She liked doing word search puzzles, going out to eat, she never wanted to be alone, she loved being around people, she spent 2 months in respite assisted living where she would sit in the lobby all day and participate in senior activities and more recently went to Mozaic senior daycare once a week and enjoyed all the daytime senior activities and wore the beanie that was gifted to her with the Mozaic logo every time she went out in the cold.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband Ioannis Karasthathis and her siblings Mary and Stella.

She is survived by her devoted daughters Maria Karastathis and her husband Dionysios Korfiatis of New York and Roxane and her husband Denis De Angelis of Trumbull;  two cherished grandchildren, Novella De Angelis Birnbaum and her husband Michael Birnbaum and Marceline De Angelis  and several nieces and nephews. 

The wake will be on Monday, May 19, 2025  from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Cyril F. Mullins Funeral Home, 399 White Plains Rd.

 Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at the Cyril F. Mullins Funeral Home, 399 White Plains Rd. Trumbull and 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 4070 Park Ave. Bridgeport, CT with Father George Livaditis officiating.  Interment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 1056 Daniels Farm Road, Trumbull, CT.
