Giselle Gonzalez Hanson

Giselle Gonzalez Hanson, 69, of Trumbull, CT, passed away peacefully at home on September 2, 2025 after a second strong and courageous fight with cancer.

Giselle was born on March 5, 1956, to Omar and Sonia Gonzalez in San Jose, Costa Rica. The Gonzalez family moved to the United States in 1964, settling in Norwalk, CT, where she grew up and attended school. In 1977 she met Kenneth Hanson, from Fairfield, CT, and they went on to date, get engaged and wed in 1980. The couple moved to Bridgeport, CT to start a family together and went on to have Erik (1981) and Carly (1986). After having Erik, Giselle dedicated herself to becoming an amazing mother and the spiritual rock for her family. Wanting to spend more time with her children, Giselle started and then ran an at-home daycare for ten+ years. When her children were older and the family moved to Trumbull, she then returned to work and ultimately ended up working for twenty years at the Norwalk Housing Authority, retiring in 2018 to spend her retirement with Ken, who retired several years earlier.

Anyone who knew Giselle, knew her as a loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, cousin, and friend.  Her strong and rooted faith in God was present in every aspect of her life, guided her daily and continues to live on through her family. Giselle was also known for immense passion for plants and flowers, which was evident inside and outside of the beautiful home she made with Ken. Every new plant growth and every new flower bloom will now be nurtured by our beautiful, new guardian angel.

Giselle was predeceased by her father, Omar Gonzalez, her sister-in-law Laura Gonzalez and her sister-in-law Katherine Hanson.  She is survived by her husband of forty-five years, Ken, her son Erik (Alexa) and their two children Kayden and Kody and her daughter Carly (Thomas) and their three children Mia, Thomas Jr. and Scarlett, her mother, Sonia, her sisters Thais (Vinny), Ibel (Ted), Heidi (Digby), her brothers Manny (Barbara), Jerry (Gladys) and their families, her mother-in-law Margaret, brothers-in-law Stephen (Eileen) and Jim Colica and their families.
