Obituary
Ernest Lawrence Nickols, Jr., age 61, a lifelong resident of Bridgeport, passed away after a brief illness on April 5, 2023 at Hartford Hospital. He was affectionately known as “J.R.” to his family and “Ernie” to his friends.
He was the son of the late Ernest Lawrence Nickols, Sr. and MaryLu Sinchak Nickols.
Survivors include his sisters, MaryLu Gaughan and her husband, Jerome E. Gaughan, III of Florida, and Theresa Rose Nickols DeGray and her husband, Robert DeGray of Connecticut; many loving nephews and a niece, Tony, Craig, Brett, Samantha and Chase, and great-nephews and nieces, Riley, Tristan, Jasper and especially, Parker, who adored him; along with his Aunts and many cousins, particularly, his best friend and cousin, Michael Connors, who so faithfully took care of him and brought him great joy.
J.R. loved Harley Davidson Motorcycles, Elvis Presley, spending time with his cousin, Michael, going for coffee, laughing, joking and telling stories. He will be deeply missed.
Services are entrusted to Cyril F. Mullins Funeral Home, 399 White Plains Road, Trumbull and will be private at the family’s request.
