Emeline Bravo-Blackwood, age 75, of Bridgeport, CT passed away July 30, 2023. Emeline was born in Jamaica, West Indies to the late Louis Bravo and Beatrice Thomas. She was a retired teacher, an accomplished business owner, and spent most of her life doing what she loved the most as a self-employed master gardener (She got her Master Gardener certification from UCONN). Always a passionate educator, she loved reading, learning new things, and sharing the love of God with everyone.
She is survived by five devoted children: (Jules Semoy, Katherine Vendryes, Kim Vendryes-Martin, Danielle Bravo-Blackwood, and Amire Larrequi); three loving grandchildren, (Katherine Gonzales, Rakeem Semoy, and Shaquille Semoy); three cherished great grandchildren (RJ Gonzales, Ryan Gonzales, and Aubrey Semoy); her fur baby companion Zoey, many siblings (Esmin Thomas-Francie, Jennifer Bravo, Eileen Bravo, Walter Bravo, Christine Bravo-Wint, Lillieth Bravo-Whyte, and Marie Bravo), and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her son Wayne Anthony Semoy and her siblings (Ruby Grant, Lynue Chambers, Doralto Bravo, Thomas Bravo, and Panton Bravo).
Friends and family are invited to attend her funeral service on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at the Stratford New Testament Church, 350 Bishop Ave. Bridgeport, CT with the Reverend Edwin Debourgh officiating. Burial to follow at Lakeview Cemetery.
Friends may greet the family on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. at the church until the time of service.
Memorial contributions may be made to a non-profit foundation Emeline had registered to help inner city children find a voice through arts, education, nature, and sports (The Wayne Anthony Semoy Foundation, if you so choose).
