Edward J. Butner III, age 66, of Trumbull, passed away June 24, 2023 in St. Vincent's Medical Center. He was born in Norwalk, CT to the late Edward JR and Edna Butner.
EJ grew up in Westport CT, attended Greens Farms Academy and graduated from Western New England University with a degree in Marketing and Business Administration. He was a postal clerk for the town of Westport for 36 years until his retirement in 2021. He served as the Union Steward for the clerks and was a longtime member of the Postal Union.
EJ loved spending time with his family at his in-laws home in Belgrade Lakes and his parents home in Nantucket. He loved a good road trip and went on many with his family,
visiting many National parks and points of interest all over the United States. He was an avid reader and could always found with a book, magazine or newspaper. A lover of history, he toured many Civil War battlefields and attended several World War II reunions of the 487th Bomb Group with his parents and family. He loved trains and (lets not forget) the New York Mets. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years, Lynn Hinds Butner; his devoted children Christopher R. Butner and Margaret Anne Butner and her fiancé Kyle Bellmay; his sisters Laura Hardon and her husband Allen and Jennifer Anderson and her husband Scott. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Marion Hinds, sister-in-law Dawna Klinko and brother-in-law Michael Hinds and his wife Lynn as well as several nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects and greet the family on Wednesday, June 28th from 5-7 p.m. at the Cyril F. Mullins Funeral Home, 399 White Plains Rd. Trumbull, CT.
