Duane Meyers Obituary

Duane Albert Meyers, age 83, of Cave Junction, Oregon passed away on July 24, 2022. He was born in
Bridgeport, CT in 1939 to the late Albert and Dorothy Meyers. He joined the Air Force when he was 17.
He completed basic training at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, TX and was subsequently stationed in
Colorado, Kansas, England and Alaska. After being honorably discharged from the Air Force, he joined
Air America in the early 1960’s and spent time in Cambodia, Thailand and Laos. He then moved back to
CT and opened a machine shop: Meyers Manufacturing. He made locks and parts for Marks Hardware as
well as Sikorsky Aircraft, among others. He joined Washington Lodge No. 19 in Monroe, CT in 1967 and
was later elected Worshipful Master. He was also an active member and a Past Patron of Lady Martha
Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star in CT as well as the Pyramid Shriners. In 1989 he closed his business
and moved to Schenevus, NY. He joined the New York Army National Guard in Albany and worked as a
civilian for the Army Counterdrug Program until he retired in 2004. In 2009 he moved to Cave Junction,
OR to be closer to his daughter and grandchildren. His family was very important to him and he was a
devoted brother, uncle, husband, father and grandfather and very involved in his grandchildren’s lives.
He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his significant other of 31 years, Jane L. Curtis, his daughter Lacy M. Miller and son-in-
law Eric S. Miller, his grandchildren Cassandra L Ketelsen, Eric A. Miller and Ellissa L Miller, his great
granddaughter Evalynn M Ketelsen, his sister and brother-in-law Cora and Timothy Morse and many
nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Elizabeth M.
Chomic.
A funeral service will be held at the First Baptist Church in Selma, OR on August 1 st at 2:00 PM. An
Interment service will be held on Aug 8 at 11:00 a.m. at Nichols Village Cemetery in Trumbull, CT.
