Dr. Thomas Edward Noonan Obituary

Dr. Thomas Edward Noonan, age 70  of Stratford, CT passed away March 15, 2026 in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Bridgeport, CT to the late Dr. Robert and Doris (Dubret) Noonan. Tom graduated from Kolbe High School in 1974. He graduated summa cum laude in 1978 from Boston College. 
He was accepted into the Army's Health Professional Scholarship program and received a Doctor of Optometry from New England College of Optometry in 1983.

He served four years in the United States Army where he was stationed in Baumholder, Germany for three years and Fort Monmouth, NJ for one year.

He received the Army Commendation Award in 1986.

In 1988, he opened New England Eye Care in Norwalk, CT. 

In 1994,  Tom opened Stratford Eye Care in Stratford, CT.  Tom loved working at Stratford Eye Care with his partner, Dr. Lisa Carroll, who joined him in 1999, and with his caring and dedicated staff, Anna, Linda, Joyce, Gail, and Barbara. 

Tom loved living in Lordship where he was an avid boater and could be seen walking on the beaches. He enjoyed annual trips on his boat to the Statue of Liberty, golfing with his wife, and spending time with his family and friends. He especially enjoyed going to his children and grandchildren's sporting and school activities. He will be greatly missed. 

Survivors include his beloved wife of 45 years, Judith Bigley Noonan; his two devoted children, Thomas B. Noonan and his wife Lauren and Julianne E. Walsh and her husband Brian; five  brothers and sisters, Kathleen Glover, Maureen Genga and her husband Gary, Dr. Robert Noonan and partner Cathy Murray, Coleen Franzese, and Doreen Nelson and her husband Gary; his four cherished grandchildren Thomas James Noonan, Elizabeth Catherine Noonan, Rory Richard Walsh, and Reagan Judith Walsh and many nieces and nephews. 
 

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his siblings, Baby Boy Noonan, Eileen Noonan, and John Noonan; and his brothers-in-law Philip Glover and Luciano "Louie" Franzese.

Special thank you to Tom’s family and friends who visited Tom at his home over the last few months.  Tom loved your company and cherished your friendship.

 

Friends and family are invited to attend his Funeral Mass on Saturday, March 21, 2026  at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace Church, 651 Stratford, Rd. Stratford, CT. Burial to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull, CT. Friends may pay their respects on Friday, March 20, 2026 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Cyril F. Mullins Funeral Home, 399 White Plains Rd. Trumbull, CT. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sanctuary Fund at Our Lady of Peace Church or Tunnel to Towers ( https://t2t.org/).
