Douglas Richard Jayne of Trumbull, beloved husband for 61 years of Carol (Friedberg) Jayne died at home on Sunday, March 14, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 22, 1935 in Hamden, CT, the son of the late Harold B. Jayne and Helen (Napier) Jayne.
After earning a degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Bridgeport, Doug went to work at Singer Metrics, the military products division of The Singer Company. Doug enjoyed family vacations, playing with the family pets (many of whom will be awaiting him at the Rainbow Bridge), and hiking with friends in the National Parks out West. He was a loyal fan of the UConn Women’s Basketball program and NASCAR. Doug was an avid reader, well known at the local library, and enjoyed attending Broadway musicals and traveling abroad with Carol. He loved being "PopPop" to granddaughter Isabelle.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by their two daughters, Catherine Jayne Walker of Trumbull and Laura Jayne Brown and her husband, Robert and their daughter Isabelle of Stratford. He was predeceased by his brothers Donald and Robert.
Due to the current health pandemic, friends may greet the family on Sunday, June 13, 2021 from 12-2 p.m. at the Cyril F. Mullins Funeral Home, 399 White Plains Rd. Trumbull, CT.
