Donna M. Spicer, age 73, of Trumbull, CT, passed away on August 26, 2024. She was born in Deadwood, South Dakota to James and Lorraine Spicer. She is survived by her devoted children Erik Anderson of Branford and Dana Anderson of Trumbull, Dana’s husband Joseph Costa of Trumbull, and her beloved grandson Henry Costa. She is also survived by three younger siblings Dennis Spicer, Dolly Flatley, and Denise Speir.
Donna loved to laugh; loved to be of service to others; loved sewing, reading, music, and yoga. She was steadfast in her feelings and ideas of what home was, which always included cooking, baking and fun fabric patterns. She enjoyed nothing more than spending time outside in the garden with her grandson and being in the company of her family. She loved cooking and sharing meals with loved ones around the table. She could always be counted on to show up at any time with a tray of homemade brownies or cookies.
A lifelong entrepreneur and seamstress, she learned to sew as a child, making clothing and toys for her five siblings. Her sewing was of a quality that comes from generations past, handed down from ancestors of humble, honest existences that has been all but lost to the modern industrial era. She never sought out the spotlight despite her work being seen across the NY Metro area over the past four decades in some of the most lavish expressions of drapery art from which she leaves behind heirlooms too plentiful to count or remember.
She will forever be remembered as a caring and loving sister, mother & friend.
To say she will be dearly missed is just the beginning.
A small gathering of loved ones for a memorial service celebrating her life will take place at a future date to be determined. Updated information on the specifics will be found on the
Cyril F. Mullins Funeral Home website.
