Dominick Carlo Alterio

Dominick Carlo Alterio, age 87, of Shelton, CT passed away December 14, 2024. He was born in Bridgeport, CT to Carl and Corrine Alterio.  He was raised in Huntington by the best foster parents Ann and Guildo Pastor and her family especially the Burlisons.   Dominick was a foreman at Sikorsky Aircraft, retiring after 33 years of service. He was most proud of his military service in the US Navy as radio man on a destroyer escort ship.  He also had a Real Estate certificate from Sacred Heart University.  He had a love for his church, St. Lawrence, his Pastor Father Ciprian and the deacons.  He was an avid boater, fisherman, hunter, and  golfer.  He loved watching sports, especially  football, college basketball, and golf. 

He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years Diane Grando Alterio, his son Michael Alterio and his partner JoDee D’Agnone; his brother Louis Alterio and his devoted brother Ernest Alterio and his wife Joanne; two cherished grandchildren Michael Douglas Alterio and his wife Erica and his cherished great granddaughter Anastasia Rose and Mark Daniel Alterio and fiance Briana. Also, his godson Anthony Alterio and his wife Debbie and countless cousins, nieces and nephews and many wonderful friends at Summerfield Gardens. He was predeceased by his brother Carl and sisters Doris and Diane.

Special thanks to Dr. Joseph Rosa and the very special extraordinary care he received when he was a resident at Apple Rehab in Shelton.  The family also expresses extreme thanks for the comfort they received while he was in their care.

Friends and family may pay respects to the family from 10:00 am to 10:30 am on Tuesday, December 17 at St. Lawrence Church, 505 Shelton Ave. Huntington. Family is invited to attend a private viewing at 9:15 at the funeral home.

Friends and family are invited to attend the funeral services at 10:30 a.m. at St. Lawrence Church, 505 Shelton Ave. Huntington, followed by entombment in St. Michael's Garden Mausoleum.
