Dianne D. Wackerman, age 92, of Fairfield, CT, passed away on March 20, 2025 in her home, surrounded by her family.
Dianne was born in Geneva, New York. She graduated from Manhattanville College with a major in American history. After meeting her future husband, Lawrence Wackerman, “across a crowded room,” they married in 1956. Dianne and Larry raised their daughters, Karen and Lisa, in Hicksville, Long Island. Dianne was active in church, community and school organizations, and social justice causes. After her children were grown, Dianne had a career in banking before retiring. Dianne was devoted to her family and delighted to have been able to enjoy her great grandchildren in recent years.
Dianne’s keen intellect and sharp wit made her excellent company. Always up to speed on current events and pop culture, she consistently surprised her grandchildren with her knowledge of the latest fad or political controversy. Although Dianne and Larry missed their friends on Long Island after they moved to Connecticut in 2014, she made fast friends at her home at Split Rock in Shelton.
She is survived by her beloved daughters Karen Wackerman and Lisa Iwanowski, her loving grandchildren Jeffrey Myers (Isabel Linacre), Elizabeth Myers, Sarah Showers (Michael) and Claire Pagliaro (Matthew), her cherished great grandchildren Juliette and Calvin, her son-in-law Christopher Myers, several nephews, including Daniel, Timothy and Thomas, and her beloved niece Maureen. She was predeceased by her husband Larry, her brother Daniel Driscoll and her son-in-law Paul Iwanowski.
The family thanks the staff at Split Rock and at Sunrise Fairfield for the loving care they provided Dianne.
Visitation will be on Friday morning from 9:30 am to 10:15 am at Cyril F. Mullins Funeral Home, 399 White Plains Road, Trumbull. Friends and family are invited to attend her funeral mass at 11:00 am at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 220 Shelton Road, Trumbull. Interment to follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 1056 Daniels Farm Road, Trumbull.
