David T. Redman

REDMAN David Thomas Redman, age 88, of Trumbull, CT, passed away October 6, 2023. He was the devoted husband for 66 years of Joan Redman, who passed away on October 11, 2023. Born in Bridlington, East Yorkshire, England, he held engineering qualifications from England and an MBA from the University of New Haven.

He served in the British Royal Air Force and then worked for Blackburn Aircraft on their Royal Navy Jet Fighter Bomber as Chief Propulsion Engineer at his time of leaving. He joined Douglas Aircraft to work on their DC 10 in California.

He then moved to Sikorsky Aircraft as a Senior Propulsion Analyst where he worked for 29 years mostly in engineering management leaving as Program Engineering Manager for the MH-53E and International Heavy Lift Programs. David participated in the successful Blackhawk Proposal and Design.  He has a patent for the Crashworthy Fuel System on the Flying Crane where he was the Propulsion Engineering Supervisor.

His athletic interests were skiing and sailing from the family lakeside cabin in Vermont. He also played soccer and tennis.

His loving family includes his wife Joan (deceased), his son Andrew (deceased), his daughter Kimberley Spath and her husband Peter Spath Jr., his granddaughters Amanda Redman and Emiley Spath and grandson Charles Spath. He was predeceased by his parents and two sisters in England.

Friends and family are invited to attend David and Joan's joint funeral services on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at the Cyril F. Mullins Funeral Home, 399 White Plains Rd. Trumbull, CT with the Very Rev. Dr. Henry L. Thompson officiating. Interment in Long Hill Cemetery. Friends may greet the family on Friday, November 3, 2023 from 4-7 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
