Carl Tomchik Obituary

Carl Edward Tomchik, age 83, of Monroe, CT, passed away in his home surrounded by his loved ones on Thursday, February 6, 2025. Carl was born in Bridgeport, CT, on September 5, 1941.  He was the fourth child of the late Michael and Anna (Povesko) Tomchik.

Carl graduated from Harding High School in 1959. He went on to attend Norwalk Community College to study graphic design. He earned money for tuition by bartending at a local bar and repainting the buildings and fixtures at the Danbury State Fair.  When his wife Pat was hired as a counselor in residence at the University of Bridgeport, Carl changed his career path and earned his Bachelor’s degree in Finance.

He explored careers in both public and private enterprises and worked for various local businesses as well as the Towns of New Milford and East Haven.  Along the way, he earned a Master's degree in Finance from Sacred Heart University.  He finally found his home as the CFO for the Town of Monroe, where he stayed for 15 years, until health issues forced him into retirement.

Carl loved spending time with his family. His daughters and grandchildren were his pride and joy, and he would brag about them to anyone who would listen.  He attended many of their sporting events, cheering on the sidelines besides his wife. Carl loved music, reading, cooking shows, and UCONN basketball and vacationing in Naples, Florida.

Carl is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Patricia Ann (Tis) Tomchik, his two devoted daughters, Alyssa (Lisa) Pendagast and her husband, Michael, and Ashley Iagrossi and her husband, Andrew, five treasured grandchildren, Thomas, Matthew & Andrew Pendagast, Shane and Riley Iagrossi. Carl’s favorite memories were those made with his family and grandchildren.
