Bridget Gleeson Obituary

Bridget Mary Gleeson, born on January 15 th , 1946 in Welwyn Garden City England to
the late Patrick and Nora Wickham, passed away peacefully on Saturday September
21 st, 2024 at the age of 78.
A remarkable woman who touched the lives of all who knew her, Bridget was a resident
of Milford, CT. She is predeceased by her beloved husband Donal, daughter Aoife, and
grandson Benjamin. She is survived by her five devoted children; Áine (Jason) Kapell,
Fiona (Michael) Johnson, Niamh Gleeson, Kevin Gleeson, and Naoise (Matthew)
Perrin; 13 cherished grandchildren; Andrew, Simone, Jacob, Sarah, Quinn, Gavin, Liam,
Maeve, Jacqueline, Sinéad, Rowan and Cian, as well as many nieces and nephews. In
her final days, she was surrounded by her loving family, and leaves behind a legacy of
love, laughter, and wisdom.

Bridget was a woman of grace, sophistication, and strength. A devoted wife of 47 years
to her beloved husband, Donal, their love exemplified partnership and commitment.
Together, they built a life full of cherished memories, creating a strong, close-knit family
that became the heart of everything she did.
As a mother of five and grandmother of 13 (and counting), Bridget was the “go-to”
person that held the family together. She created a strong family bond through traditions
including Sunday dinners, Christmas and birthday celebrations, and even dress-up
parties, all orchestrated with love and creativity. Everyone was welcome in her home
and at her table. Her thoughtful and selfless nature made her a true matriarch, and her
grandchildren adored her beyond words.

A master of all crafts, Bridget’s modesty belied her skill and talent, which was evident in
every endeavor she pursued, most notably as a seamstress, card-maker, accountant,
and a gourmet cook and baker.  An artist at heart, she was capable of transforming
moments, great and small, into unforgettable memories. Elegant and genuine, she was
a confident, down to earth woman who was accessible to all who knew her.

Bridget had a gift for storytelling and a great sense of humor. She believed in treating
others with dignity and respect and had an abiding sense of kindness. She spoke her
mind and was practical and tough in challenging times. Throughout her life, she made
sacrifices to ensure that those around her could realize their dreams, and she took great
pride in the accomplishments of her family. Bridget loved to travel, especially with Donal.
Their hard-earned success after decades of chasing the American dream allowed them
to experience the world together. Yet no matter where life took her, her home was her
repose.
While she will be deeply missed, Bridget’s legacy of love, strength, and wisdom will
forever guide those she leaves behind.
Friends and family are invited to attend her funeral services on Thursday, September 26th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 220 Shelton Rd. Trumbull.
