Brian Butler Obituary

Brian R. Butler, age 66, of Cheshire, CT and formerly of Trumbull, CT passed away September 27, 2022, with his two favorite girls by his side. He was born in Bridgeport, CT, son of Robert E. Butler and the late Barbara (Hull) Butler.

Brian was a graduate of St. Joseph High School in Trumbull, CT, class of 1974. He was a musician all his life. He enjoyed all types of music and excelled as a jazz drummer. Brian played in a variety of bands over the years, including wedding, pop, rock and, most recently, with the Brian Butler Jazz Quartet. He always loved a good jam session with his brother, cousins, and childhood friends.

Brian was a security officer at General Electric in Fairfield for 30 years. After retiring from GE, he continued his security career at Long Lots Elementary School in Westport. During his time at both, Brian made many friends and touched countless others with his infectious personality, wit and kindness to everyone he met.

Brian loved life, and enjoyed every day to the fullest, especially when he was able to fish on “The Dory,” sail on Whisper, or watch a New York Yankees or Jets game. He especially loved spending time with his three grandsons, whether it be playing a game of catch, playing soccer, or just making them laugh endlessly. Brian was the brightest light in any room and left an impression on everyone that he met.

He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of almost 42 years, Joanie Butler; his loving daughter Kelly Henri, her husband Sean and their three sons, Brian, Connor and Owen; his father Robert E. Butler and his wife Josephine; four siblings Barry Butler and his wife Diane, Mary Schneider and her husband Rick, Martha Curran and her husband Steve and Kathy Hynds and her husband Sam; his sister and brother-in-law Susan and Terry Deyo; and many nieces and nephews.
