Augusta Marini age 92, of Trumbull, passed away in her home on January 18, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Italy to the late Angelo and Teresa Caloni. She emigrated to the USA in 1967 with her husband, Piero, and two young children. In the years that followed Piero’s job took them to assignments in Texas, Holland and Belgium with Stamford, CT as the home base between moves. Augusta took all the moves in stride and made friends easily wherever she lived.
From 1985 to 1995 the family owned Monica’s Restaurant in Stamford where Augusta’s love for cooking made countless people satisfied diners. Her other passions included quilting, needlework, knitting, music and traveling. Having patiently waited many years to become a grandmother, from 1996 to 2000 she welcomed into the world one grandchild a year. Close to her heart was her oldest grandchild, Chelsea, afflicted with a serious neurological disorder. Chelsea was Augusta’s first thought upon waking and her last thought as she fell asleep.
Augusta was a warm, generous, fun loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend who will be missed dearly.
She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years and their children, Angelo Marini of Newtown, and Monica Coenraads of Trumbull; their spouses, Renia and Pieter, and her 5 grandchildren, Chelsea, Matthew, Alex, Benjamin, Tyler.
