Arline J Powell

Arline Joan (Huydic) Powell, age 89, of Shelton, CT, passed away peacefully at home on May 2, 2025. She was born in Bridgeport, CT, to the late John and Carmella Huydic.

Arline worked as an administrative assistant for many years at Sikorsky Aircraft, where she was valued for her professionalism and dedication.

She will be fondly remembered for her love of ballroom dancing, her impeccable style, and her passion for cooking—though she was always the first to admit she loved eating even more. She had a flair for bringing people together, and nothing brought her more joy than gathering around the table to share a meal with her family. Above all, Arline possessed remarkable inner strength, gracefully facing life’s challenges with courage and resilience. After the loss of her beloved husband, Michael Powell Sr., she continued to lead her family with quiet determination and unwavering love, even while navigating a long and difficult illness.

She was predeceased by her husband, Michael Powell Sr., and her daughter-in-law, Krisztina Powell.

Survivors include her two loving sons, Michael Powell Jr. and his wife Diane, and Robert Powell; her two brothers, Richard Huydic and his wife Evelyn, and John Huydic and his wife Lynne; her sister, Millie Batchelor, and her husband Harold; and her four cherished grandchildren, Michael III, Melanie, Raymond, and Natalie. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly—and by her beloved granddogs, Claire and Timmy.

Friends may pay their respects on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10:15 a.m. at the Cyril F. Mullins Funeral Home, 399 White Plains Rd., Trumbull, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Lawrence Church, 505 Shelton Ave., Shelton, CT. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
