Antonie (Toni) Mraz

Antonie (Toni) Scwarzenbach Mraz, age 94, widow of the late John Mraz, passed away peacefully on April 20 with her loving son by her side at Spring Village Assisted Living.

Toni was born in Zollhaus, Germany on November 30, 1928 to Anton and Philomena Scwarzenbach. During her youth in Germany amid World War II, Toni had many responsibilities but she took great pride in being a Kindergarten instructor. She immigrated to the United States in1955 with her beloved husband, John and her devoted son, Robert. They lived in Maryland for a short time until moving and settling in CT. She was a quality assurance inspector for Lord Manufacturing for many years until her retirement.

After retiring, Toni and John moved to Barefoot Bay, Florida. Her twenty years in Florida were her happiest where she made new friends and had many adventures. After her husband passed, she returned to CT where she lived with her son and daughter-in-law for 12 years in Trumbull. While living in Trumbull, she joined the Trumbull Senior Center. She made new friends there and enjoyed the lunches and was even able to speak German. She was very proud to have been awarded “Outstanding Volunteer” for helping in the lunch program. Toni enjoyed spending time with her family, shopping and going out to eat, especially to the Monroe Diner every Sunday morning for her Belgian waffle. 

Survivors include her son Robert and daughter-in-law Elizabeth (Tina) Mraz, loving granddaughter, Christine Marr and her husband, Colin and her cherished great-grandsons, Aaron, Zander and Sebastian Marr who affectionately called her Groma, a special niece Margit Fleischmann of Heilbronn, Germany and her lunch and shopping companion, Patricia Mraz Bridgeforth, along with several other nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sister, Elli DeJori, her good friend and sister-in-law, Martha Halpin, and her adored granddaughter Karen Mraz.

The family would like to thank the entire staff at Spring Village for their kindness especially Nancy G. who was with us every step of the way.  Also, thank you to Accent Hospice for helping Toni pass with dignity.

Memorial contributions can be made in Toni’s memory to the Karen Mraz Scholarship Fund (checks made payable to Trumbull Public Schools) or to St. Jude’s Children's Hospital.  

Friends and famiy are invited to attend her funeral services on Tuesday at 10:15 a.m. at the Cyril F. Mullins Funeral Home, 399 White Plains Rd. Trumbull and at 11:00 a.m. at St. Theresa Church, 5301 Main St. Trumbull. Interment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
