Albert Forno Obituary

ALBERT P. FORNO

May 30, 1928 -October 7, 2025

Albert P. Forno, age 97, of Trumbull Connecticut, went home peacefully to be with the Lord on Monday, October 7, 2025, after a long illness.  He was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut on May 30, 1928.  Albert grew up in the Nichols part of Trumbull and lived there all his life in a house that he built.  He was a proud Army veteran having served in the Korean War.

Albert was predeceased by his beloved wife of 72 years, Margaret O’Brien Forno. Together they raised five children, namely Katheen Marovic (Michael), Sharon Leidy (Robert), Nancy Ellen Heinrich (Stephen), Cynthia Calzone (Richard) and James Forno (Maureen).  He was grandfather to 12, a great grandfather to 20 and a great great grandfather to one.  Albert was predeceased by his brother, Frank Forno, and his sisters, Eunice Tobin, Rose Santurbano and Barbara Kohl.  He is survived by several nieces and nephews.

After discharge from the Army in November, 1952, Albert was employed by Bombero Construction Company, Cilco Cement Corporation, Intercoastal Trucking Corp. and City Lumber Company before moving on to Country Home Bakers where he worked as a cross country tractor trailer driver for the last 21 years of his employment.  He retired in August, 1992.

Albert and Peggy, were one of the original parishioners of St. Catherine of Siena Church in Nichols, Connecticut where Albert was a member of the Knights of Columbus.  He was also a member of the Gaelic-American Club, the American Legion, and Local 191 Retired Teamsters.

In addition to spending quite a bit of time in sunny Florida over the years, Al and Peggy traveled to Ireland 13 times exploring and connecting with family.

His enjoyment was always GARDENING - vegetables and flowers alike lined the driveway.  He loved puttering in the garage and was known for his ability to fix anything.  To say he will be missed is an understatement, this is the end of an ERA.  As a couple, Albert and Peggy have been the pillars of the “Fabulous Family of Forno” for many years.

The family would like to thank the many caregivers at Maefair Health Care Center (especially nurse, Holly Sharpe) and Caring Hospice, who cared for him prior to his passing.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a fund set up for Albert’s grandson who was recently severely injured in a motorcycle accident.  Gifts can be mailed to James A. Forno, 53 Knorr Road, Monroe, CT  06468 or to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
