Robert Francis Metzger, son of deceased Joseph and Catherine Metzger, age 90, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2017 at St. Joseph's Manor in Trumbull.  He was born in Bridgeport and was a life long area resident. He was baptized at St. Charles Church in 1927 by Msgr. Patrick McGivney and a lifetime parishioner.

 He was a Bridgeport Firefighter for 30 years before retiring. He also served in the Navy as a Seabee in the Asia Pacific. He was a member of the Retired Fire Fighters, B.A.R.F and a member of the Msgr. Patrick McGivney Knights of Columbus 3rd degree. He as an avid sportsman and a member of the Bridgeport YMCA for 40 years where he played handball. He was NY Giants Fan and loved listening to Frank Sinatra.  Bob was survived by his wife of 67 years, Janice Lacavalle Metzger. He was predeceased by his son Bobby Metzger. Other family survivors are his two daughters, Judy Plotkin, Milford, CT and Patty Gray of Roseville, CA, his grandchildren, Christy Sorrentino, Bridgeport, Zachary Gray, Las Vegas and Summer Gray, Hawaii.

Friends are invited to attend his memorial service on Thursday, July 6 at 11:00 a.m. directly at St. Charles Church 1255 East Main St. Bridgeport.  Inurnment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Friends may greet the family at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Charles Church 1255 East Main St. Bridgeport, CT 06608.
