Michael F. Stavish, age 91, of Trumbull, passed away on February 2, 2018. He was born in Uniontown, PA and was a graduate of Carnegie Institute of Technology (Carnegie Mellon University), Pittsburgh. He retired from Handy & Harmon in Fairfield where he worked as a metallurgical engineer.
During his 57 years in Trumbull, he served the town in a variety of capacities including Trumbull Town Council, Republican Town Committee, and Planning & Zoning Committee. He was an advocate for the purchase of the Pequonnock Valley, and he was instrumental in the establishment of Trumbull’s recycling program. He was an active life member of the Fayerweather Yacht Club in Bridgeport .
He is survived by his wife Genevieve; his children, Brian Stavish of Stratham, NH, Babs Stavish, and Patricia Reed and husband Dean of Clayton, NC; his grandchildren, Adrian, Amanda, Evan and Kristen; his great-grandchildren, Xander, Noah and Ryker. He was predeceased by his siblings Mildred, John, Paul, Joseph, Andrew, Tony, Anne, Rose, and Kate. Interment will be private. The family is planning a memorial gathering at a future date.
