The family of Margaret Mary Figerle (Murray) of Stratford sadly mourn the passing of their mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, on Sunday, October 8, 2017. Margaret was born in Dublin, Ireland on August 2, 1923 to the late Christopher and Elizabeth (Stone) Murray. She was the youngest of 13 and was predeceased by 12 brothers and sisters. In 1941, Mom moved to Oxford, England to assist with the war effort. While in Oxford, she met her future husband George M. Figerle, Sr., an American soldier (who predeceased her in October, 1994). After the war, they returned to the States and settled in Bridgeport. Mom is survived by twin daughters Flo Barnett and Liz Wegrzyn and their husbands Dr. David Barnett and Thomas Wegrzyn, daughter Eileen Barrett and partner James Emerito, son, George Figerle Jr. and his wife Margaret. Also, predeceased by son-in-law Lawrence R. Barrett.
Grieving Mom’s passing are her nine beloved grandchildren.  Her special first granddaughter, Jennifer Wegrzyn   predeceased her grandmother in 1977. Surviving grandchildren, Lisa and husband, Dr. Timothy Kelling, Christine and husband Bryan Brissette, Matthew and wife Marianne Barrett, Jeffrey and wife Tara Barrett, Deborah Wegrzyn, Christopher and wife Tiziana Wegrzyn, Marissa and husband TJ Newman, Laura and husband Andrew DaCorte. Mom is survived by 12 adorable great-grandchildren who will miss their GG, Aksel, Kennedy, Brooklyn, AJ, Nate, Camden, Riley, Easton, Reese, Giovanna, Ava, and Braeden. In her late 80s, Mom joined Facebook to follow the activities of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, friends, and her special nieces and nephew in Ireland and England. Mom enjoyed bowling with her friends, crocheting, knitting, watching the BBC channel, reading, attending Sunday mass, watching Jeopardy with her son, and having a cup of tea with her family and friends. In May 2017, Mom made her final trip with her daughter, Flo to her homeland to visit with her favorite nieces Lisa Murray, Sara and Rita Donald, and her nephew Mark Murray. Our family would like to give a special thank you to the nurses and staff at Connecticut Hospice and the VNS of Bridgeport and Trumbull for their wonderful care and support.
