Josephine F. Shannon

Josephine Frances Shannon, age 85, of Trumbull, passed away at her home with her family by her side.  She was born in West Orange, NJ and was a long time Trumbull resident.
Josephine was an active member of every church to which she ever belonged.  Her faith was a gift she practiced and shared with her family and friends.  She was a strong woman who loved her family and supported them at every school function and life event.  Her strength and positive outlook on life carried her through a long illness and until the end she smiled, laughed and assured everyone she was getting better. 
Her favorite time of the year was when she and her family vacationed ‘down the shore’ in Manasquan, NJ.  Surrounded by as many Shannons as the eye could see and trying to win one of the many Scrabble games the adults enjoyed, Josephine loved this time together.
She is survived by her beloved husband William (of 60 years) as well as her children: William Shannon of Manasquan, NJ, Barbara and James Printy of Rollinsford, NH, Mary and Stephen Flood of Cheshire, CT, Kathleen and James Filan of Newtown, CT, Paul and Diana Shannon of Fairfax, VA, her 8 grandchildren: Kelly and Timothy Flood,  Sean and Samantha Printy, Mee Mee and Hallie Filan, Natalie and Carly Shannon along with her many special nieces, nephews, sister and brothers-in-law, and friends. She is predeceased by her parents, William and Elizabeth Heine; her sisters, Mary Heine and Dorothy Jurgensen; and her brother, Reverend William Heine. 
The family offers its sincere thanks to the friends, aides and nurses from SeniorBridge and VNS of Connecticut who supported Josephine.
Friends are invited to attend her funeral service on Friday directly at St. Stephens Church, 6948 Main St., Trumbull at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be private. Friends may greet the family on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at the Cyril F. Mullins Funeral Home, 399 White Plains Rd. Trumbull. Memorial contributions may be made to VNS of Connecticut, 12 Cambridge Drive, Trumbull, CT 06611.
